Calumet FIRST Robotics "CopperBots" Play to Win

The CopperBots started their season at Escanaba where they were semifinalists and won the Engineering Inspiration for the 4th time in a row. In their second match at Kingsford they were finalists and won the Quality Award for robust robot design and elegance. The team advanced to the Michigan State Championships at Saginaw State University where they were finalists on Consumer Field and were ranked 24th in the state out of 458 teams. The team earned a spot at the World Championships in Houston, Texas where they finished 9th in their division and were semifinalists. They were the highest ranked Upper Peninsula team ever and were ranked in the top 1% of in the world. Team members include Keating Dinsmore, Andrew Ellis, Ben Jackson, Charles Jackson, Gabe King-Takacs, Braden Miller, Ava Nagel, Abe Perala, Lowell Torola and Liisa Ylitalo. The CopperBots are coached by Todd Waurio, with mentors Major Michael Farley, Bruce Jackson, and Brian Miller. Congratulations CopperBots on an amazing season!
